Rise on the wings of an eagle (4/4)

  • A wholesome tongue is a tree of life,
but an undisciplined tongue crushes the spirit.
  • In my distress I called out to the Lord;
he answered by setting me free.
  • Even though the fig tree does not blossom
and there is no fruit on the vines,
even though the olive crop will fail
and the orchards will yield no food,
even though the flock is cut off from the fold
and there is no herd in the stalls,
I will continue to rejoice in the Lord,
and exult in the God of my salvation.
  • Jesus said to him, “Go on your way! Your faith has made you well.” Immediately, he received his sight and followed him along the road.
  • Adulterers! Do you not know that love of the world results in enmity with God? Therefore, whoever wishes to be a lover of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
  • A good man produces good from the store of goodness in his heart, whereas an evil man produces evil from the store of evil within him. For the mouth speaks from the abundance of the heart.
  • Let no one regard you with contempt because of your youth, but serve as an example to the believers in your speech and conduct, in your love, your faith, and your purity.
  • They answered, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, and so too will your household.”
  • Like newborn infants, long for pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may advance on the path to salvation.
  • The one who eats everything must not look contemptuously on the one who does not, and the one who abstains must not pass judgment on the one who eats, for God has welcomed both.
  • A man is haughty until disaster overtakes him,
    but humility comes before honors.
  • Not because of any righteous deeds on our part
    but because of his mercy,
he saved us through the bath of rebirth
and renewal by the Holy Spirit.
  • Remain sober and alert, for your enemy the devil is on the prowl like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.
  • Set me as a seal on your heart,
as a seal upon your arm.
For love is as strong as death,
and ardor is as relentless as the netherworld.
Its flames are flashes of fire,
    an unending blaze.
  • Return and tell Hezekiah, the leader of my people: Thus says the Lord, the God of David, your father: I have heard, I have seen your tears. I will heal you today, and the day after tomorrow you will go up to the temple of the Lord.
  • The Lord is good,
an unfailing refuge in a time of distress.
He takes care of those who place their trust in him.
  • Our temporary light afflictions are preparing for us an incomparable weight of eternal glory.
  • Continue in all of the ways that the Lord, your God, has commanded you. Continue in them so that you may live and prosper and that you may long dwell on the land of your inheritance.
  • The Lord God made clothing for the man and woman out of animal skins and he clothed them.
  • Remember that you were once a slave in the land of Egypt. The Lord, your God, brought you out from there with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm. Therefore, the Lord, your God, has commanded you to observe the Sabbath day.
  • If you refrain from traveling on the Sabbath
and from engaging in your own interests on my holy day,
if you call the Sabbath a day of joy
and regard the Lord’s holy day as honorable,
if you honor it by not going your own way,
    serving your own interests,
    or attending to your own affairs;
then you will find true happiness in the Lord,
and I will enable you to ride
upon the heights of the earth.
I will nourish you with the heritage of your father Jacob,
for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.
  • O Lord, you have examined me
    and you know me.
    You know when I sit and when I stand;
you perceive my thoughts from a distance.
  • Because the sentence for committing an evil act is not carried out quickly, people’s hearts are prone to act wickedly.
  • A fool is quick to show his anger,
but a prudent man ignores an insult.
  • The desires of the flesh result in death, but the desires of the Spirit result in life and peace.

Bible verse of the day

So shall my word be
that issues forth from my mouth.
It will not return to me unfulfilled,
but it will accomplish my purpose
and achieve what I sent it forth to do.
