- Speak out, judge righteously,
defend the rights of the poor and needy. - Jesus answered them, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only will you do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ it will be done.”
- Fine speech is not becoming to a fool;
still less is false speech to a ruler. - For one believes with the heart and so is justified, and one confesses with the mouth and so is saved.
- Blessings are on the head of the righteous,
but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence. - The tongue of the righteous is choice silver;
the mind of the wicked is of little worth. - I will bless the Lord at all times;
his praise shall continually be in my mouth. - Lying lips conceal hatred,
and whoever utters slander is a fool. - If another disciple sins, you must rebuke the offender, and if there is repentance, you must forgive. And if the same person sins against you seven times a day, and turns back to you seven times and says, ‘I repent,’ you must forgive.
- Above all, my beloved, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or by any other oath, but let your “Yes” be yes and your “No” be no, so that you may not fall under condemnation.
- I have not departed from the commandment of his lips;
I have treasured in my bosom the words of his mouth. - In my distress I called upon the Lord;
to my God I cried for help.
From his temple he heard my voice,
and my cry to him reached his ears. - Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.
- Because no prophecy ever came by human will, but men and women moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.
- You may say to yourself, “How can we recognize a word that the Lord has not spoken?” If a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord but the thing does not take place or prove true, it is a word that the Lord has not spoken. The prophet has spoken it presumptuously; do not be frightened by it.
- Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord,
but those who act faithfully are his delight. - I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?’
- And you will say in that day:
Give thanks to the Lord,
call on his name;
make known his deeds among the nations;
proclaim that his name is exalted. - Divided tongues, as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability.
- I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart;
I will tell of all your wonderful deeds. - When they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God with boldness.
- You have already been cleansed by the word that I have spoken to you.
- The words of a whisperer are like delicious morsels;
they go down into the inner parts of the body. - Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I; send me!”
- But I say to you, Do not swear at all, either by heaven, for it is the throne of God, or by the earth, for it is his footstool, or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.
