Life (4/6)

  • Do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothes.
  • And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.
  • ‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’
  • This is what the Lord says to Israel: “Seek me and live.”
  • For this is what the high and exalted One says—
    he who lives forever, whose name is holy:
    “I live in a high and holy place,
    but also with the one who is contrite and lowly in spirit,
    to revive the spirit of the lowly
    and to revive the heart of the contrite.”
  • Teach me your way, Lord,
    that I may rely on your faithfulness;
    give me an undivided heart,
    that I may fear your name.
  • Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent.
  • Listen, my son, accept what I say,
    and the years of your life will be many.
  • The Lord will rescue his servants;
    no one who takes refuge in him will be condemned.
  • The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it,
    the world, and all who live in it.
  • Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.
  • You are to be holy to me because I, the Lord, am holy, and I have set you apart from the nations to be my own.
  • You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.
  • I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body.
  • And the Lord God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.” So the Lord God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken.
  • Now all has been heard;
    here is the conclusion of the matter:
    Fear God and keep his commandments,
    for this is the duty of all mankind.
  • Blessed are those whose ways are blameless,
    who walk according to the law of the Lord.
  • Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.
  • For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light.
  • For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.
  • He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.
  • Produce fruit in keeping with repentance.
  • See, the enemy is puffed up;
    his desires are not upright—
    but the righteous person will live by his faithfulness.
  • His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.
  • For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it.

We have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original conviction firmly to the very end.
