Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. | So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath. |
Jesus replied, “But even more blessed are all who hear the word of God and put it into practice.” | But He said, “More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!” |

Ask me and I will tell you remarkable secrets you do not know about things to come. | Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know. |
But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. | But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. |
And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him. | Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. |
In those days when you pray, I will listen. | Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. |
I love the Lord because he hears my voice and my prayer for mercy. Because he bends down to listen, I will pray as long as I have breath! | I love the Lord, because He has heard My voice and my supplications. Because He has inclined His ear to me, Therefore I will call upon Him as long as I live. |
Those who listen to instruction will prosper; those who trust the Lord will be joyful. | He who heeds the word wisely will find good, And whoever trusts in the Lord, happy is he. |
Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. | Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock. |
Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you. | The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you. |
And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for. | And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him. |
Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends. | Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. |
So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ. | So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. |
But in my distress I cried out to the Lord; yes, I prayed to my God for help. He heard me from his sanctuary; my cry to him reached his ears. | In my distress I called upon the Lord, And cried out to my God; He heard my voice from His temple, And my cry came before Him, even to His ears. |
People who accept discipline are on the pathway to life, but those who ignore correction will go astray. | He who keeps instruction is in the way of life, But he who refuses correction goes astray. |
My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to my words. Don’t lose sight of them. Let them penetrate deep into your heart. | My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart. |
Listen to my voice in the morning, Lord. Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly. | My voice You shall hear in the morning, O Lord; In the morning I will direct it to You, And I will look up. |
“Listen to me and make up your minds to honor my name,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, “or I will bring a terrible curse against you. I will curse even the blessings you receive. Indeed, I have already cursed them, because you have not taken my warning to heart.” | “If you will not hear, And if you will not take it to heart, To give glory to My name,” Says the Lord of hosts, “I will send a curse upon you, And I will curse your blessings. Yes, I have cursed them already, Because you do not take it to heart.” |
The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right; his ears are open to their cries for help. | The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their cry. |
Serve only the Lord your God and fear him alone. Obey his commands, listen to his voice, and cling to him. | You shall walk after the Lord your God and fear Him, and keep His commandments and obey His voice; you shall serve Him and hold fast to Him. |
Around midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening. | But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. |
I ask you again, does God give you the Holy Spirit and work miracles among you because you obey the law? Of course not! It is because you believe the message you heard about Christ. | Therefore He who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you, does He do it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? |
Whatever you have said in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered behind closed doors will be shouted from the housetops for all to hear! | Therefore whatever you have spoken in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have spoken in the ear in inner rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops. |
But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say, ‘People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” | But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ” |
If another believer sins against you, go privately and point out the offense. If the other person listens and confesses it, you have won that person back. | Moreover if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother. |
