Chinese (traditional)- But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?
- No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.
- As sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.
- “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,
“Therefore I hope in Him!” - When goods increase,
They increase who eat them;
So what profit have the owners
Except to see them with their eyes? - Again, I saw that for all toil and every skillful work a man is envied by his neighbor. This also is vanity and grasping for the wind.
- He answered and said to them, “He who has two tunics, let him give to him who has none; and he who has food, let him do likewise.”
- The ransom of a man’s life is his riches,
But the poor does not hear rebuke. - When they had pasture, they were filled;
They were filled and their heart was exalted;
Therefore they forgot Me. - You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s.
You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. The generous soul will be made rich,
And he who waters will also be watered himself.Next verse!With image
