My son, don’t despise Yahweh’s discipline, neither be weary of his correction; for whom Yahweh loves, he corrects, even as a father reproves the son in whom he delights. | My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord; neither be weary of his correction: For whom the Lord loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth. |
As many as I love, I reprove and chasten. Be zealous therefore, and repent. | As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. |
|
A prudent man sees danger and takes refuge; but the simple pass on, and suffer for it. | A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself; but the simple pass on, and are punished. |
For as many as have sinned without the law will also perish without the law. As many as have sinned under the law will be judged by the law. | For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law. |
All chastening seems for the present to be not joyous but grievous; yet afterward it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. | Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby. |
If anyone sins, doing any of the things which Yahweh has commanded not to be done, though he didn’t know it, he is still guilty, and shall bear his iniquity. | And if a soul sin, and commit any of these things which are forbidden to be done by the commandments of the Lord; though he wist it not, yet is he guilty, and shall bear his iniquity. |
But he who didn’t know, and did things worthy of stripes, will be beaten with few stripes. To whomever much is given, of him will much be required; and to whom much was entrusted, of him more will be asked. | But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more. |
Return, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions, so iniquity will not be your ruin. | Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin. |
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear has punishment. He who fears is not made perfect in love. | There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. |
You shall not misuse the name of Yahweh your God; for Yahweh will not hold him guiltless who misuses his name. | Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain: for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. |
Behold, happy is the man whom God corrects. Therefore do not despise the chastening of the Almighty. | Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty. |
You shall consider in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so Yahweh your God disciplines you. | Thou shalt also consider in thine heart, that, as a man chasteneth his son, so the Lord thy God chasteneth thee. |
One who walks with wise men grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm. | He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed. |
He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who disbelieves will be condemned. | He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. |
I tell you, no, but unless you repent, you will all perish in the same way. | I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. |
Then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptation and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment. | The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished. |
There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who don’t walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus made me free from the law of sin and of death. | There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. |
But above all things, my brothers, don’t swear— not by heaven, or by the earth, or by any other oath; but let your “yes” be “yes”, and your “no”, “no”, so that you don’t fall into hypocrisy. | But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation. |
Preach the word; be urgent in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort with all patience and teaching. | Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine. |
God sets the lonely in families. He brings out the prisoners with singing, but the rebellious dwell in a sun-scorched land. | God setteth the solitary in families: he bringeth out those which are bound with chains: but the rebellious dwell in a dry land. |
Yahweh preserves the foreigners. He upholds the fatherless and widow, but he turns the way of the wicked upside down. | The Lord preserveth the strangers; he relieveth the fatherless and widow: but the way of the wicked he turneth upside down. |
Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men. | Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. |
But the free gift isn’t like the trespass. For if by the trespass of the one the many died, much more did the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, abound to the many. | But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. |
Riches don’t profit in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death. | Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death. |
Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil. | Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil. |
