He who follows after righteousness and kindness finds life, righteousness, and honor. | Whoever pursues righteousness and kindness will find life and honor. |
Who “will pay back to everyone according to their works.” | For he will repay according to each one's deeds. |
|
But you, man of God, flee these things, and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness. | But as for you, man of God, shun all this; pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, gentleness. |
For Yahweh loves justice, and doesn’t forsake his saints. They are preserved forever, but the children of the wicked shall be cut off. | For the Lord loves justice; he will not forsake his faithful ones. The righteous shall be kept safe forever, but the children of the wicked shall be cut off. |
Don’t be deceived. God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. | Do not be deceived; God is not mocked, for you reap whatever you sow. |
Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but Yahweh weighs the hearts. | All deeds are right in the sight of the doer, but the Lord weighs the heart. |
But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well. | But strive first for the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. |
For he will never be shaken. The righteous will be remembered forever. | For the righteous will never be moved; they will be remembered forever. |
Yahweh’s eyes are toward the righteous. His ears listen to their cry. | The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their cry. |
To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to Yahweh than sacrifice. | To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice. |
But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you are blessed. “Don’t fear what they fear, neither be troubled.” | But even if you do suffer for doing what is right, you are blessed. Do not fear what they fear, and do not be intimidated. |
Let’s not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season if we don’t give up. | So let us not grow weary in doing what is right, for we will reap at harvest time, if we do not give up. |
See that no one returns evil for evil to anyone, but always follow after that which is good for one another and for all. | See that none of you repays evil for evil, but always seek to do good to one another and to all. |
For him who knew no sin he made to be sin on our behalf, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. | For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. |
Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report: if there is any virtue and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. | Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. |
Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. | And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace for those who make peace. |
For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men, instructing us to the intent that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we would live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present age. | For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all, training us to renounce impiety and worldly passions, and in the present age to live lives that are self-controlled, upright, and godly. |
Commit your way to Yahweh. Trust also in him, and he will do this: he will make your righteousness shine out like light, and your justice as the noon day sun. | Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act. He will make your vindication shine like the light, and the justice of your cause like the noonday. |
Blessed is the man who doesn’t walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand on the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers. | Happy are those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or take the path that sinners tread, or sit in the seat of scoffers. |
Treasures of wickedness profit nothing, but righteousness delivers from death. | Treasures gained by wickedness do not profit, but righteousness delivers from death. |
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled. | Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. |
Wicked people earn deceitful wages, but one who sows righteousness reaps a sure reward. | The wicked earn no real gain, but those who sow righteousness get a true reward. |
If you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. | If you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. |
It is a snare to a man to make a rash dedication, then later to consider his vows. | It is a snare for one to say rashly, “It is holy,” and begin to reflect only after making a vow. |
With my whole heart I have sought you. Don’t let me wander from your commandments. | With my whole heart I seek you; do not let me stray from your commandments. |
