But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. | But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not just hearers who deceive themselves. |

The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender. | The rich rules over the poor, And the borrower becomes the lender’s slave. |
Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the Lord. | He who finds a wife finds a good thing And obtains favor from the Lord. |
A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones. | A joyful heart is good medicine, But a broken spirit dries up the bones. |
The desire of a man is his kindness: and a poor man is better than a liar. | What is desirable in a person is his kindness, And it is better to be a poor person than a liar. |
Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors they are established. | Without consultation, plans are frustrated, But with many counselors they succeed. |
Lying lips are abomination to the Lord: but they that deal truly are his delight. | Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, But those who deal faithfully are His delight. |
Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. | Train up a child in the way he should go, Even when he grows older he will not abandon it. |

And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord. | Now why do you delay? Get up and be baptized, and wash away your sins by calling on His name. |
A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold. | A good name is to be more desired than great wealth; Favor is better than silver and gold. |
And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. | Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to reward each one as his work deserves. |
He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him. | It is He who reveals the profound and hidden things; He knows what is in the darkness, And the light dwells with Him. |
