For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.While physical training has some value, the benefits of godliness are unlimited, since it holds out promise not only for this life but also for the life to come.

The vine is dried up and the fig tree is withered; the pomegranate, the palm and the apple tree— all the trees of the field—are dried up.
