We all stumble in many ways. Anyone who is never at fault in what they say is perfect, able to keep their whole body in check.Indeed, we all make many mistakes. For if we could control our tongues, we would be perfect and could also control ourselves in every other way.
Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. So now you Gentiles are no longer strangers and foreigners. You are citizens along with all of God’s holy people. You are members of God’s family. Together, we are his house, built on the foundation of the apostles and the prophets. And the cornerstone is Christ Jesus himself.
Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness.Everyone who sins is breaking God’s law, for all sin is contrary to the law of God.
Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.Let me now remind you, dear brothers and sisters, of the Good News I preached to you before. You welcomed it then, and you still stand firm in it. It is this Good News that saves you if you continue to believe the message I told you—unless, of course, you believed something that was never true in the first place.
Whoever loves money never has enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income. This too is meaningless. Those who love money will never have enough. How meaningless to think that wealth brings true happiness!
For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice. For wherever there is jealousy and selfish ambition, there you will find disorder and evil of every kind.
Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant.
To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps. For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example, and you must follow in his steps.
And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins. But when you are praying, first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against, so that your Father in heaven will forgive your sins, too.
Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.
Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. You must be compassionate, just as your Father is compassionate.
In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless.
In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus. You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.
The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.God will make this happen, for he who calls you is faithful.
For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.No one can know a person’s thoughts except that person’s own spirit, and no one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own Spirit.
“Are you so dull?” he asked. “Don’t you see that nothing that enters a person from the outside can defile them? For it doesn’t go into their heart but into their stomach, and then out of the body.” (In saying this, Jesus declared all foods clean.)“Don’t you understand either?” he asked. “Can’t you see that the food you put into your body cannot defile you? Food doesn’t go into your heart, but only passes through the stomach and then goes into the sewer.” (By saying this, he declared that every kind of food is acceptable in God’s eyes.)
When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too. And as he was praying, heaven was opened and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.”One day when the crowds were being baptized, Jesus himself was baptized. As he was praying, the heavens opened, and the Holy Spirit, in bodily form, descended on him like a dove. And a voice from heaven said, “You are my dearly loved Son, and you bring me great joy.”
My lips will shout for joy when I sing praise to you— I whom you have delivered.I will shout for joy and sing your praises, for you have ransomed me.
‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’For in him we live and move and exist. As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’
For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures.I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said.
One Sabbath Jesus was going through the grainfields, and as his disciples walked along, they began to pick some heads of grain. The Pharisees said to him, “Look, why are they doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath?” He answered, “Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry and in need? In the days of Abiathar the high priest, he entered the house of God and ate the consecrated bread, which is lawful only for priests to eat. And he also gave some to his companions.” Then he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.”One Sabbath day as Jesus was walking through some grainfields, his disciples began breaking off heads of grain to eat. But the Pharisees said to Jesus, “Look, why are they breaking the law by harvesting grain on the Sabbath?” Jesus said to them, “Haven’t you ever read in the Scriptures what David did when he and his companions were hungry? He went into the house of God (during the days when Abiathar was high priest) and broke the law by eating the sacred loaves of bread that only the priests are allowed to eat. He also gave some to his companions.” Then Jesus said to them, “The Sabbath was made to meet the needs of people, and not people to meet the requirements of the Sabbath. So the Son of Man is Lord, even over the Sabbath!”
Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.Father, I want these whom you have given me to be with me where I am. Then they can see all the glory you gave me because you loved me even before the world began!
