Am (4/4)

I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope.I wait for the Lord in anxious expectation; I place my hope in his word.
My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one.I am not asking you to take them out of the world, but I do ask you to protect them from the evil one.
Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill them.
I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.
Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely.A word is not even on my tongue and you, O Lord, are completely aware of it.
Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him.In God alone be at rest, O my soul; it is from him that my hope comes.
“I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but not everything is constructive.“All things are lawful,” you may say—but not all things are beneficial. All things may be lawful—but not all things are constructive.
The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?With the Lord to protect me I am not afraid. What can mortals do to me?
When I said, “My foot is slipping,” your unfailing love, Lord, supported me.When I realized that my foot was slipping, your kindness, O Lord, raised me up.
“I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but I will not be mastered by anything.“All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are beneficial. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not allow myself to be dominated by anything.
Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name.Bless the Lord, O my soul; my entire being, bless his holy name.
But God has helped me to this very day; so I stand here and testify to small and great alike. I am saying nothing beyond what the prophets and Moses said would happen— that the Messiah would suffer and, as the first to rise from the dead, would bring the message of light to his own people and to the Gentiles. But I have had help from God to this very day, and I stand here and testify to both the lowly and the great. I assert nothing more than what the Prophets and Moses said would occur: that the Christ must suffer, and that, by being the first to rise from the dead, he would proclaim light to the people and to the Gentiles.
If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. If you heed the voice of the Lord, your God, and you carefully observe all of the commandments that I have given you today, then the Lord, your God, will lift you up above all the other nations upon the earth.
Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace but a sword.
I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong— that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith. For I am longing to see you so that I may bestow on you some spiritual gift to strengthen you— or, rather, so that we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine.
I delight greatly in the Lord; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of his righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.I rejoice in the Lord with all my heart; my soul exults in my God. For he has clothed me in garments of salvation and wrapped me in a robe of saving justice, like a bridegroom adorned with a garland or a bride bedecked with her jewels.
These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.You shall keep these things that I command you today in your heart. Teach them to your children. You shall talk of them when you are sitting in your home, and when you are walking along the way, and when you lie down and when you rise up.
Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then I will be confident.Even if an army encamps against me, my heart will not succumb to fear; even if war breaks out against me, I will not have my trust shaken.
“Who can hide in secret places so that I cannot see them?” declares the Lord. “Do not I fill heaven and earth?” declares the Lord. Can someone hide in a secret place so that I cannot see him? Do I not fill heaven and earth?
A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.I give you a new commandment: love one another. Just as I have loved you, so you should also love one another.
But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.”But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for I bring you good news of great joy for all the people.”
Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.Why are you so disheartened, O my soul? Why do you sigh within me? Place your hope in God; for I will once again praise him, my Savior and my God.
Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.At dawn let me experience your kindness, for in you I place my trust. Show me the path I must walk, for to you I lift up my soul.
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give it to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled; be not afraid.
To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat down with my Father on his throne. To anyone who is victorious, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, as I myself overcame and sat with my Father on his throne.

Bible verse of the day

If either of them falls down,
one can help the other up.
But pity anyone who falls
and has no one to help them up.
