| They said to you, “In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires.” These are the people who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit. | How they told you that there would be mockers in the last time who would walk according to their own ungodly lusts. These are sensual persons, who cause divisions, not having the Spirit. |
| He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created. | Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures. |

| Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always strive to do what is good for each other and for everyone else. | See that no one renders evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good both for yourselves and for all. |
