| They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, along with everyone in your household.” | They said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.” |
| Turn us again to yourself, O Lord God of Heaven’s Armies. Make your face shine down upon us. Only then will we be saved. | Turn us again, Yahweh God of Armies. Cause your face to shine, and we will be saved. |
| Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. | Doing nothing through rivalry or through conceit, but in humility, each counting others better than himself. |
| Loyalty makes a person attractive. It is better to be poor than dishonest. | That which makes a man to be desired is his kindness. A poor man is better than a liar. |
| But the Lord will redeem those who serve him. No one who takes refuge in him will be condemned. | Yahweh redeems the soul of his servants. None of those who take refuge in him shall be condemned. |

| But even if you suffer for doing what is right, God will reward you for it. So don’t worry or be afraid of their threats. | But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you are blessed. “Don’t fear what they fear, neither be troubled.” |
| May the Lord our God be with us as he was with our ancestors; may he never leave us or abandon us. | May Yahweh our God be with us as he was with our fathers. Let him not leave us or forsake us. |
| Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth. | Give diligence to present yourself approved by God, a workman who doesn’t need to be ashamed, properly handling the Word of Truth. |
| Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have. | Not that I speak because of lack, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content in it. |
| But the angel reassured them. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people.” | The angel said to them, “Don’t be afraid, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be to all the people.” |
