- But even as he spoke, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy. Listen to him.”
- So if someone tells you, ‘Look, the Messiah is out in the desert,’ don’t bother to go and look. Or, ‘Look, he is hiding here,’ don’t believe it! For as the lightning flashes in the east and shines to the west, so it will be when the Son of Man comes.
- Show me the right path, O Lord;
point out the road for me to follow. - The righteous person faces many troubles,
but the Lord comes to the rescue each time. - After saying this, he was taken up into a cloud while they were watching, and they could no longer see him.
- I cried out, “I am slipping!”
but your unfailing love, O Lord, supported me. - In the blink of an eye wealth disappears,
for it will sprout wings
and fly away like an eagle. - So refuse to worry, and keep your body healthy. But remember that youth, with a whole life before you, is meaningless.
- Then Jesus led them to Bethany, and lifting his hands to heaven, he blessed them. While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up to heaven.
- I have been the Lord your God
ever since I brought you out of Egypt.
You must acknowledge no God but me,
for there is no other savior. - And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart.
- And now I make one more appeal, my dear brothers and sisters. Watch out for people who cause divisions and upset people’s faith by teaching things contrary to what you have been taught. Stay away from them.
- On the last day, the climax of the festival, Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds, “Anyone who is thirsty may come to me!”
- The Lord hears his people when they call to him for help.
He rescues them from all their troubles.
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted;
he rescues those whose spirits are crushed. - Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.
- But he knows where I am going.
And when he tests me, I will come out as pure as gold.
For I have stayed on God’s paths;
I have followed his ways and not turned aside. - For I know that as you pray for me and the Spirit of Jesus Christ helps me, this will lead to my deliverance.
- Oh, what joy for those
whose disobedience is forgiven,
whose sin is put out of sight! - Watch out that you do not lose what we have worked so hard to achieve. Be diligent so that you receive your full reward.
- All who are victorious will be clothed in white. I will never erase their names from the Book of Life, but I will announce before my Father and his angels that they are mine.
- Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’
- You are my rock and my fortress.
For the honor of your name, lead me out of this danger. - Guard your heart above all else,
for it determines the course of your life. - Until at last the Spirit is poured out
on us from heaven.
Then the wilderness will become a fertile field,
and the fertile field will yield bountiful crops. - If another believer sins against you, go privately and point out the offense. If the other person listens and confesses it, you have won that person back.
