- I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance. but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire.

- Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not. For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
- And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.
- Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
- But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.
- As the hart panteth after the water brooks,
so panteth my soul after thee, O God. - And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.
- It is a snare to the man who devoureth that which is holy,
and after vows to make enquiry. - I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

- And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

and the firmament sheweth his handywork.
Day unto day uttereth speech,
and night unto night sheweth knowledge. - Again, I considered all travail, and every right work, that for this a man is envied of his neighbour. This is also vanity and vexation of spirit.
Thou shalt keep therefore his statutes, and his commandments, which I command thee this day, that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee, and that thou mayest prolong thy days upon the earth, which the Lord thy God giveth thee, for ever.If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
