- He took some bread and gave thanks to God for it. Then he broke it in pieces and gave it to the disciples, saying, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”
- You and I are Jews by birth, not ‘sinners’ like the Gentiles. Yet we know that a person is made right with God by faith in Jesus Christ, not by obeying the law. And we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we might be made right with God because of our faith in Christ, not because we have obeyed the law. For no one will ever be made right with God by obeying the law.
- But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted!
- For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example, and you must follow in his steps.
- It is better to take refuge in the Lord
than to trust in people. - For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
- Those who know your name trust in you,
for you, O Lord, do not abandon those who search for you. - Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.”
- So Jesus told them, “My message is not my own; it comes from God who sent me.”
- You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can’t get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it.
- Do not withhold good from those who deserve it
when it’s in your power to help them. - You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body
and knit me together in my mother’s womb.

Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. - The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! But we who are being saved know it is the very power of God.
- Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.
- But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy.
For the Scriptures say, “You must be holy because I am holy.” - For every house has a builder, but the one who built everything is God.
- The Lord is righteous in everything he does;
he is filled with kindness. - And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.
- So the Lord must wait for you to come to him
so he can show you his love and compassion.
For the Lord is a faithful God.
Blessed are those who wait for his help. - One Sabbath day as Jesus was teaching in a synagogue, he saw a woman who had been crippled by an evil spirit. She had been bent double for eighteen years and was unable to stand up straight. When Jesus saw her, he called her over and said, “Dear woman, you are healed of your sickness!” Then he touched her, and instantly she could stand straight. How she praised God! But the leader in charge of the synagogue was indignant that Jesus had healed her on the Sabbath day. “There are six days of the week for working,” he said to the crowd. “Come on those days to be healed, not on the Sabbath.” But the Lord replied, “You hypocrites! Each of you works on the Sabbath day! Don’t you untie your ox or your donkey from its stall on the Sabbath and lead it out for water? This dear woman, a daughter of Abraham, has been held in bondage by Satan for eighteen years. Isn’t it right that she be released, even on the Sabbath?” This shamed his enemies, but all the people rejoiced at the wonderful things he did.
- But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world.
- And it is a good thing to receive wealth from God and the good health to enjoy it. To enjoy your work and accept your lot in life—this is indeed a gift from God.
- How wonderful and pleasant it is
when brothers live together in harmony! - To learn, you must love discipline;
it is stupid to hate correction. - So remember this and keep it firmly in mind: The Lord is God both in heaven and on earth, and there is no other.
