Forsake (3/4)

  • He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins.
  • He is the one all the prophets testified about, saying that everyone who believes in him will have their sins forgiven through his name.
  • Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.” And the soldiers gambled for his clothes by throwing dice.
  • But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.
  • The Lord is my light and my salvation—
so why should I be afraid?
The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger,
    so why should I tremble?
  • Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
  • Brothers, listen! We are here to proclaim that through this man Jesus there is forgiveness for your sins. Everyone who believes in him is made right in God’s sight—something the law of Moses could never do.
  • Now all glory to God our Father forever and ever! Amen.
  • For I decided that while I was with you I would forget everything except Jesus Christ, the one who was crucified.
  • This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: Judge fairly, and show mercy and kindness to one another. Do not oppress widows, orphans, foreigners, and the poor. And do not scheme against each other.
  • Therefore he is able, once and forever, to save those who come to God through him. He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf.
  • Bring your confessions, and return to the Lord.
    Say to him,
“Forgive all our sins and graciously receive us,
so that we may offer you our praises.”
  • Never! Can a mother forget her nursing child?
Can she feel no love for the child she has borne?
But even if that were possible,
    I would not forget you!
See, I have written your name on the palms of my hands.
Always in my mind is a picture of Jerusalem’s walls in ruins.
  • But there is a great difference between Adam’s sin and God’s gracious gift. For the sin of this one man, Adam, brought death to many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of forgiveness to many through this other man, Jesus Christ.
  • Moses remained there on the mountain with the Lord forty days and forty nights. In all that time he ate no bread and drank no water. And the Lord wrote the terms of the covenant—the Ten Commandments—on the stone tablets.
  • For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son, who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins.
  • I will exalt you, my God and King,
and praise your name forever and ever.
  • But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day.
  • Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good!
    His faithful love endures forever.
  • I love you, Lord;
    you are my strength.
    The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior;
my God is my rock, in whom I find protection.
He is my shield, the power that saves me,
    and my place of safety.
  • For God is not unjust. He will not forget how hard you have worked for him and how you have shown your love to him by caring for other believers, as you still do.
  • Then Peter came to him and asked, “Lord, how often should I forgive someone who sins against me? Seven times?” “No, not seven times,” Jesus replied, “but seventy times seven!”
  • The grass withers and the flowers fade,
but the word of our God stands forever.
  • In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.
  • Finally, I confessed all my sins to you
and stopped trying to hide my guilt.
I said to myself, “I will confess my rebellion to the Lord.”
And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone.

But I will be merciful only if you stop your evil thoughts and deeds and start treating each other with justice; only if you stop exploiting foreigners, orphans, and widows; only if you stop your murdering; and only if you stop harming yourselves by worshiping idols. Then I will let you stay in this land that I gave to your ancestors to keep forever.
