- All this knowledge comes from the Lord of hosts
whose counsel is wonderful
and whose wisdom is great. - You are a place of refuge for me;
you preserve me from trouble
and surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah - Do I derive any pleasure from the death of the wicked? asks the Lord God. Would I not rather rejoice to see them turn away from their wickedness and live?
- Give to everyone who begs from you, and do not demand the return of what is yours from the one who has taken it.
- For you are aware that you were ransomed from your futile way of life inherited from your ancestors not with perishable things like silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.
- But our citizenship is in heaven, and from there we await our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.
- Abba, Father, for you all things are possible. Take this cup from me. Yet not my will but yours be done.
- This is the commandment
we have received from him:
whoever loves God
must also love his brother. - You shall be holy, for I, the Lord, am holy. I have chosen you from among all people that you shall be mine.
- For everything that is in the world—
the concupiscence of the flesh,
the concupiscence of the eyes,
and the pride of life—
comes not from the Father
but from the world. - Then he went on, “It is what comes out of a person that defiles. For from within, from the human heart, come evil thoughts, unchastity, theft, murder, adultery, avarice, malice, deceit, indecency, envy, slander, arrogance, and folly. All these evils come from within, and they defile a person.”
- For the Lord himself is the one who bestows wisdom;
from his mouth come forth knowledge and understanding. - However, if we confess our sins,
he who is faithful and just
will forgive our sins
and cleanse us from all wrongdoing. - The Lord will protect you against all evil;
he will watch over your life.
The Lord will watch over your coming and your going
both now and forevermore. - And as we gaze upon the glory of the Lord with unveiled faces, all of us are being transformed into that same image from glory to glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
- For the Lord, your God, is gracious and compassionate, and he will not turn his face away from you if you return to him.
- Wash yourselves and become clean;
remove your evil deeds
far from my sight.
Cease to do evil. - When God raised up his servant, he sent him first to you, to bless you by turning each one of you from your wicked ways.
- Repent and renounce all your transgressions. Otherwise your iniquity will prove to be your downfall.
- I have not strayed from the commandments of his lips;
I have treasured in my heart the words of his mouth. - The one who sows in his flesh will reap a harvest of corruption, but the one who sows in the Spirit will reap from the Spirit the reward of eternal life.
- You shall serve the Lord, your God. He will bless your bread and water and take away sickness from your midst.
- Train a child in the way he should go,
and he will not deviate from it, even in old age. - You must understand, brethren, that it is through him that forgiveness of sins is being proclaimed to you. All those who believe are justified from all the things from which they could not be justified by the Law of Moses.
- God blessed the seventh day and he consecrated it, for on it he rested from all the work he had done when he created all things.
Keep falsehood and lying far from me;
give me neither poverty nor riches,
but simply provide me with the food that I need.This is what love is:
not that we have loved God,
but that he loved us
and sent his Son as expiation for our sins.
