But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. |

| The seed that fell among the thorns represents those who hear God’s word, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the worries of this life and the lure of wealth, so no fruit is produced. | The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, making it unfruitful. |
| When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners. | You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. |
| Help us, O God of our salvation! Help us for the glory of your name. Save us and forgive our sins for the honor of your name. | Help us, God our Savior, for the glory of your name; deliver us and forgive our sins for your name’s sake. |
