- Give me an eagerness for your laws
rather than a love for money! - All of this occurred to fulfill the Lord’s message through his prophet:
“Look! The virgin will conceive a child!
She will give birth to a son,
and they will call him Immanuel,
which means ‘God is with us.’” - I will never forget your commandments,
for by them you give me life. - Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say,
“I will take revenge;
I will pay them back,”
says the Lord. - I have given them to you for food, just as I have given you grain and vegetables. But you must never eat any meat that still has the lifeblood in it.
- May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace.
- Dear brothers and sisters, we can’t help but thank God for you, because your faith is flourishing and your love for one another is growing.
- I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful. And now the prize awaits me—the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on the day of his return. And the prize is not just for me but for all who eagerly look forward to his appearing.
- Do not deprive each other of sexual relations, unless you both agree to refrain from sexual intimacy for a limited time so you can give yourselves more completely to prayer. Afterward, you should come together again so that Satan won’t be able to tempt you because of your lack of self-control.
- Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.
- Wash yourselves and be clean!
Get your sins out of my sight.
Give up your evil ways. - Teach me your ways, O Lord,
that I may live according to your truth!
Grant me purity of heart,
so that I may honor you. - For the Scriptures say,
“‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord,
‘every knee will bend to me,
and every tongue will declare allegiance to God.’” - If you cling to your life, you will lose it; but if you give up your life for me, you will find it.
- If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.
- Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.
- The husband should fulfill his wife’s sexual needs, and the wife should fulfill her husband’s needs. The wife gives authority over her body to her husband, and the husband gives authority over his body to his wife.
- That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day.
- Give your burdens to the Lord,
and he will take care of you.
He will not permit the godly to slip and fall. - If you will listen carefully to the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in his sight, obeying his commands and keeping all his decrees, then I will not make you suffer any of the diseases I sent on the Egyptians; for I am the Lord who heals you.
- And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for.
- The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.
- The Lord is my strength and shield.
I trust him with all my heart.
He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy.
I burst out in songs of thanksgiving. - If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.
- Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak!
