- Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”
- Don’t get sidetracked;
keep your feet from following evil. - Give thanks to the Lord and proclaim his greatness.
Let the whole world know what he has done. - Just as the rich rule the poor,
so the borrower is servant to the lender. - But when you give to someone in need, don’t let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. Give your gifts in private, and your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.
- The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right;
his ears are open to their cries for help. - But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.
- And then he told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.”
- They will never again be hungry or thirsty;
they will never be scorched by the heat of the sun.
For the Lamb on the throne
will be their Shepherd.
He will lead them to springs of life-giving water.
And God will wipe every tear from their eyes. - But those who do what is right come to the light so others can see that they are doing what God wants.
- Sing to the Lord, for he has done wonderful things.
Make known his praise around the world. - And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up.

My help comes from the Lord,
who made heaven and earth! - “All right then,” Joshua said, “destroy the idols among you, and turn your hearts to the Lord, the God of Israel.”
- For the Lord gave us this command when he said,
‘I have made you a light to the Gentiles,
to bring salvation to the farthest corners of the earth.’ - The teaching of your word gives light,
so even the simple can understand. - When you give to someone in need, don’t do as the hypocrites do—blowing trumpets in the synagogues and streets to call attention to their acts of charity! I tell you the truth, they have received all the reward they will ever get.
- If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully keep all his commands that I am giving you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the world.
- He saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit.
- The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right,
and his ears are open to their prayers.
But the Lord turns his face
against those who do evil. - For if we are faithful to the end, trusting God just as firmly as when we first believed, we will share in all that belongs to Christ.
- So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other.
- Jesus told him, “If you want to be perfect, go and sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
- Don’t imagine that I came to bring peace to the earth! I came not to bring peace, but a sword.
- If the person still refuses to listen, take your case to the church. Then if he or she won’t accept the church’s decision, treat that person as a pagan or a corrupt tax collector.
