- We all come to the end of our lives as naked and empty-handed as on the day we were born. We can’t take our riches with us.
- So I concluded there is nothing better than to be happy and enjoy ourselves as long as we can. And people should eat and drink and enjoy the fruits of their labor, for these are gifts from God.
- My victory and honor come from God alone.
He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me. - But you, dear friends, must build each other up in your most holy faith, pray in the power of the Holy Spirit, and await the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will bring you eternal life. In this way, you will keep yourselves safe in God’s love.
- As a face is reflected in water,
so the heart reflects the real person. - Jesus looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But not with God. Everything is possible with God.”
- So God created human beings in his own image.
In the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them. - And God has given us his Spirit as proof that we live in him and he in us.

- The Lord your God will bless you as he has promised. You will lend money to many nations but will never need to borrow. You will rule many nations, but they will not rule over you.
- But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.

- And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.
- God will destroy anyone who destroys this temple. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.
- The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit.
You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God. - Again he said, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.”
- God blesses those who work for peace,
for they will be called the children of God. - You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people.
- For wives, this means submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For a husband is the head of his wife as Christ is the head of the church. He is the Savior of his body, the church.
- Observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy, as the Lord your God has commanded you. You have six days each week for your ordinary work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath day of rest dedicated to the Lord your God. On that day no one in your household may do any work. This includes you, your sons and daughters, your male and female servants, your oxen and donkeys and other livestock, and any foreigners living among you. All your male and female servants must rest as you do.
- But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.
- But God is my helper.
The Lord keeps me alive! - But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy.
For the Scriptures say, “You must be holy because I am holy.” - Understand, therefore, that the Lord your God is indeed God. He is the faithful God who keeps his covenant for a thousand generations and lavishes his unfailing love on those who love him and obey his commands.
- I have been the Lord your God
ever since I brought you out of Egypt.
You must acknowledge no God but me,
for there is no other savior.
