- Seek good and not evil,
so that you may live.
Then the Lord, the God of hosts, will be with you
as you claim he is. - But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for I bring you good news of great joy for all the people.”
- How beautiful upon the mountains
are the feet of the messenger who announces peace,
who bears good news and proclaims glad tidings,
announcing salvation and saying to Zion,
“Your God is king.” - For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus for a life of good works that God had prepared for us to do.

and receives favor from the Lord. - You intended to do evil to me, but God decided to make it serve a good, to fulfill that which today has come true: to keep alive a numerous people.
- Two are better than one:
they earn a far greater reward for their toil. - He gave himself for us in order to deliver us from all iniquity and to purify for himself a people as his own who are eager to do good.
- And learn to do good.
Pursue justice and rescue the oppressed;
listen to the plea of the orphan
and defend the widow. - To those who seek after glory and honor and immortality by persevering in good works, he will grant eternal life.
- Good and upright is the Lord;
therefore, he instructs sinners in his ways.
He guides the humble in what is right
and teaches them the path to follow. - Do not withhold kindness from anyone to whom it is due
when it is in your power to grant it. - O Lord, you are kind and forgiving,
filled with kindness for all who cry to you. - But to those of you who are listening to me, I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.
- The Lord has told you, O man, what is good.
And what does the Lord require of you?
Only this: to do what is right, to show mercy,
and to walk humbly with your God. - Produce good fruit as proof of your repentance.
- An honorable name is more to be desired than great riches,
and high esteem is preferable to silver and gold. - If you, then, despite your evil nature, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!
