- You, Lord, are forgiving and good,
abounding in love to all who call to you. - For, “Whoever would love life
and see good days
must keep their tongue from evil
and their lips from deceitful speech.
They must turn from evil and do good;
they must seek peace and pursue it.” - Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due,
when it is in your power to act. - The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”
- How much more valuable is a person than a sheep! Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.
- Seek good, not evil,
that you may live.
Then the Lord God Almighty will be with you,
just as you say he is. - A good name is more desirable than great riches;
to be esteemed is better than silver or gold. - But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.”
- Teach me to do your will,
for you are my God;
may your good Spirit
lead me on level ground. - A person finds joy in giving an apt reply—
and how good is a timely word! - For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
- Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom.
- And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
- Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.
- Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
- You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.
- To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life.
- Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always strive to do what is good for each other and for everyone else.
- Who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.
- Good and upright is the Lord;
therefore he instructs sinners in his ways.
He guides the humble in what is right
and teaches them his way. - But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.
- He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.
And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God. - Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
- But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.
- If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!
And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels?
