| The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David! | For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. |

| By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. | As His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue. |
| But when people keep on sinning, it shows that they belong to the devil, who has been sinning since the beginning.
