- For you, O God, have put us to the test;
you have purified us as silver is refined. - To you, O God of my fathers,
I offer thanks and praise
because you have given me wisdom and power.
Now you have made known to me
what we asked of you;
you have revealed to us the king’s dream. - Then Jesus said to him,
“You have come to believe
because you have seen me.
Blessed are those who have not seen
and yet have come to believe.” - How great is your goodness, O Lord,
which you have stored up for those who fear you
and which you bestow on those who take refuge in you,
in the presence of all the people. - Never will I forget your commands,
for through them you have given me life. - I am coming soon. Hold fast to what you already have so that no one may rob you of your crown.
- Father, allow those you have given me
to be with me where I am,
so that they may behold my glory,
which you have bestowed on me
because you loved me
before the foundation of the world. - Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The Lord is the eternal God,
the Creator of the earth’s farthest boundaries.
He does not faint or grow weary;
his understanding cannot be scrutinized. - I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord;
I have no good apart from you.” - When I sing to you, my lips will rejoice,
and so will my soul, which you have redeemed. - You have given me the shield of your salvation;
your right hand sustains me,
and your goodness makes me great.
You broadened the path beneath me
so that my feet have never stumbled. - You created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am wonderfully made;
awesome are your works,
as I know very well. - And eternal life is this:
to know you,
the only true God,
and the one you have sent,
Jesus Christ. - Those who revere your name place their trust in you,
for you never abandon those who seek you, O Lord. - When you make a vow to God, do not delay in fulfilling it, for God has no pleasure in fools. Fulfill the vow you have made.
- O Lord, you have examined me
and you know me.
You know when I sit and when I stand;
you perceive my thoughts from a distance. - I have made your name known to them,
and I will make it known,
so that the love with which you loved me
may be in them, and I in them. - Ah, Lord God, you made the heavens and the earth by your great power and your outstretched arm. Nothing is impossible for you.
- Because in my eyes you are precious,
because you are honored and I love you,
I will give people in exchange for you
and nations in return for your life. - But I will sing of your strength;
when morning dawns, I will proclaim your kindness.
For you have been my fortress,
my refuge in times of trouble. - Then Peter asked, “Ananias, why has Satan so gained control of your heart that you lied to the Holy Spirit and retained part of the sale price of the land? While it remained unsold, did it not belong to you? And after it was sold, were not the proceeds yours? What caused you to contrive this scheme? You have lied not to men but to God.”
- O Lord, you are my God.
I will exalt you and praise your name,
for you have accomplished wonderful things,
formulated in ages past, faithful and sure. - In much the same manner
will wisdom be sweet to your soul.
If you find it, you will have a future,
and your hope will not be cut off. - Fight the good fight of faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your noble confession of faith in the presence of many witnesses.
- Jesus replied, “If you wish to be perfect, go, sell your possessions, and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
- If your brother wrongs you, go and take up the matter with him when the two of you are alone. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over.
- Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you will name him Jesus.”
- But when you pray, go into your room, close the door, and pray to your Father in secret. And your Father who sees everything that is done in secret will reward you.
- His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. Since you have been faithful in small matters, I will give you much greater responsibilities. Come and share your master’s joy.’
- I will make haste and not delay
to observe your precepts. - Wealth hastily acquired will dwindle away,
but when amassed little by little, it will increase. - For as it is written,
“Eye has not seen, ear has not heard,
nor has the human heart imagined
what God has prepared for those who love him.” - He said to them in reply, “Anyone who has two coats must share with the person who has none, and whoever has food must do likewise.”
- Blessed is the person who has found wisdom,
the one who has gained understanding. - Arise and shine forth, for your light has come
and the glory of the Lord has dawned upon you. - As a father has compassion for his children,
so the Lord has compassion for those who fear him. - No one has ever seen God.
It is the only Son, God,
who is at the Father’s side,
who has made him known. - Consequently, anyone united to Christ is a new creation. The old order has passed away. Behold, all has become new.
- For a child has been born to us,
a son has been given to us.
Upon his shoulders dominion rests,
and this is the name he has been given:
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. - He has made everything suitable for its time, and he has given men a sense of past and future, but they never have the slightest comprehension of what God has wrought from beginning to end.
- All this has been done by God, who has reconciled us to himself through Christ and entrusted us with the ministry of reconciliation.
- For the Son of Man has come to seek out and to save what was lost.
- He has satisfied the thirsty
and filled the hungry with good things. - Bear with one another, and forgive one another if anyone has reason to be offended with another. You must forgive just as the Lord has forgiven you.
- Such hope will not be doomed to disappointment, because the love of God has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us.
- But Jesus has now received a ministry that is far superior, for he is the mediator of a far better covenant that has been established on better promises.
- This is the day that the Lord has made;
let us exult and rejoice in it. - Cure the sick who are there, and say, ‘The kingdom of God has come unto you.’
- I love the Lord because he has heard my voice
and listened to my cry for mercy,
because he has inclined his ear to me
on the day when I called out to him. - Fear not, little flock, for your Father has chosen to give you the kingdom.
