- The Lord is my strength and my shield;
my heart places its trust in him.
He has helped me, and I exult;
then with my song I praise him. - I wait for the Lord in anxious expectation;
I place my hope in his word. - Heal me, O Lord, and I will be healed;
save me, and I will be saved;
you are the one whom I praise. - Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying:
“To the one seated on the throne
and to the Lamb
be blessing and honor and glory and might
forever and ever.” - Then I acknowledged my sin to you,
and I made no attempt to conceal my guilt.
I said, “I will confess my offenses to the Lord,”
and you removed the guilt of my sin. Selah - Go, and assemble all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will do the same thing. After that, I will go to the king—against the law. And if I perish, I perish!
- I will place my rainbow in the clouds and it will be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth.
- There is only one thing I ask of the Lord,
just one thing I seek:
to dwell in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life,
so that I may enjoy the beauty of the Lord
and gaze on his temple. - I will not leave you orphans;
I will come to you. - I will sing to the Lord as long as I live;
I will sing praise to my God while I have life. - In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God. - And now it is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me. The life I live now in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave himself up for me.
- Grant justice to the weak and the orphan;
defend the rights of the lowly and the poor. - I have made your name known to them,
and I will make it known,
so that the love with which you loved me
may be in them, and I in them. - And I say to you: You are Peter, and on this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of the netherworld will not prevail against it.
- The Lord is my light and my salvation;
whom should I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life;
of whom should I be afraid? - The fear of the Lord implies hatred of evil;
I hate pride and arrogance,
evil ways and perverse speech. - Return and tell Hezekiah, the leader of my people: Thus says the Lord, the God of David, your father: I have heard, I have seen your tears. I will heal you today, and the day after tomorrow you will go up to the temple of the Lord.
- Only goodness and kindness will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
forever and ever. - I will instruct you
and guide you in the way you should go;
I will counsel you
and keep my eyes upon you. - Then Job arose, tore his cloak, and shaved his head. He threw himself prostrate on the ground and said:
“Naked I emerged from my mother’s womb,
and naked I will return.
The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away;
blessed be the name of the Lord.” - Because I delivered the poor who appealed for help
and the orphan who had no one to protect him.
The blessing of the wretched was given to me,
and I caused the widow’s heart to sing for joy. - But I have had help from God to this very day, and I stand here and testify to both the lowly and the great. I assert nothing more than what the Prophets and Moses said would occur: that the Christ must suffer, and that, by being the first to rise from the dead, he would proclaim light to the people and to the Gentiles.
- For I will provide the weary with all they need, and I will restore the strength of all those who have grown faint with hunger.
- I will extol you, my God and King;
I will bless your name forever and ever.
Let no foul word ever pass your lips. Say only what is useful for edification, so that your words may benefit your listeners. For the Lord himself is the one who bestows wisdom;
from his mouth come forth knowledge and understanding.Next verse!With image
