- If your brother should sin, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him. Even if he wrongs you seven times a day, and comes back to you seven times to say, ‘I am sorry,’ you must forgive him.
- But who am I, and what are your people,
that we should be able to do this?
All things belong to you,
and everything that we have given you is from your hand. - I will not leave you orphans;
I will come to you. - I wait for the Lord in anxious expectation;
I place my hope in his word. - You shall obey his statutes and the commandments that I give you today, so that all may go well with you and your children after you, and that you may live long in the land that the Lord, your God, has given you for all time.
- If you heed the voice of the Lord, your God, and you carefully observe all of the commandments that I have given you today, then the Lord, your God, will lift you up above all the other nations upon the earth.
- In God, whose word I praise,
in God I place my trust and know no fear;
what can people do to me? - Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill them.
- Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying:
“To the one seated on the throne
and to the Lamb
be blessing and honor and glory and might
forever and ever.” - A word is not even on my tongue
and you, O Lord, are completely aware of it. - Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace but a sword.
- And now it is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me. The life I live now in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave himself up for me.
- But I have had help from God to this very day, and I stand here and testify to both the lowly and the great. I assert nothing more than what the Prophets and Moses said would occur: that the Christ must suffer, and that, by being the first to rise from the dead, he would proclaim light to the people and to the Gentiles.
- In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God. - I know how to live with little, and I know how to live with plenty. In any and all circumstances, I have learned the secret of being well fed and of going hungry, of having plenty and of being in need.
- Grant justice to the weak and the orphan;
defend the rights of the lowly and the poor. - When I realized that my foot was slipping,
your kindness, O Lord, raised me up. - Go and learn what this text means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ I have come to call not the righteous but sinners.
- You shall keep these things that I command you today in your heart. Teach them to your children. You shall talk of them when you are sitting in your home, and when you are walking along the way, and when you lie down and when you rise up.
- In God alone be at rest, O my soul;
it is from him that my hope comes. - A thief comes only
to steal and kill and destroy.
I have come
that they may have life,
and have it in abundance. - Bless the Lord, O my soul;
my entire being, bless his holy name. - I will place my rainbow in the clouds and it will be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth.
- At dawn let me experience your kindness,
for in you I place my trust.
Show me the path I must walk,
for to you I lift up my soul. - But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for I bring you good news of great joy for all the people.”
