- For everything that is in the world—
the concupiscence of the flesh,
the concupiscence of the eyes,
and the pride of life—
comes not from the Father
but from the world. - Sing praise to the Lord for his mighty deeds;
let this be known throughout the entire world. - Before the mountains were brought forth
or the earth and the world came into existence,
from everlasting to everlasting you are God. - But whoever endures to the end will be saved.
- Dear children,
you are from God
and you have conquered them,
for the one who is in you is greater
than the one who is in the world. - Peace I leave with you,
my peace I give to you.
Not as the world gives
do I give it to you.
Do not let your hearts be troubled;
be not afraid. - For God so loved the world
that he gave his only Son,
so that everyone who believes in him
may not perish
but may attain eternal life. - In other words, God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, and not holding people’s transgressions against them, and he committed to us the message of reconciliation.
- I have told you these things
so that my joy may be in you
and your joy may be complete. - Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the world.
- Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may show yourselves blameless and beyond reproach, children of God without spot in the midst of an evil and depraved generation, among which you shine like lights in the world as you hold fast tenaciously to the word of life.

and new vigor to those who are powerless. - Let us examine and test our ways
and return to the Lord. - I am the living bread that came down from heaven.
Whoever eats this bread will live forever;
and the bread that I will give
is my flesh, for the life of the world. - Father, allow those you have given me
to be with me where I am,
so that they may behold my glory,
which you have bestowed on me
because you loved me
before the foundation of the world. - Nothing gives me greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.
- I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord;
I have no good apart from you.” - See what love
the Father has bestowed on us,
enabling us to be called the children of God,
and that is what we are.
If the world does not recognize us,
that is because it did not know him. - Do not swerve either to the right or to the left;
keep your foot far from evil. - Pleasing words are like a honeycomb,
sweet to the soul and affording health to the body. - Deceit is in the heart of those who plot evil,
but those who counsel peace have joy. - A wise son brings joy to his father,
but a foolish son gives grief to his mother. - For thus says the Lord to the house of Israel:
If you seek me, you will survive. - God chose those in the world who were lowly and despised, those who count for nothing, to reduce to nothing those who were regarded as worthy, so that no one could boast in the presence of God.
- And every tongue should proclaim
to the glory of God the Father:
Jesus Christ is Lord.
