- And when he comes, he will convict the world of its sin, and of God’s righteousness, and of the coming judgment.
- And I tell you this, you must give an account on judgment day for every idle word you speak.
- So you see, the Lord knows how to rescue godly people from their trials, even while keeping the wicked under punishment until the day of final judgment.
- How much better to get wisdom than gold,
and good judgment than silver! - Get wisdom; develop good judgment.
Don’t forget my words or turn away from them. - So let us stop going over the basic teachings about Christ again and again. Let us go on instead and become mature in our understanding. Surely we don’t need to start again with the fundamental importance of repenting from evil deeds and placing our faith in God. You don’t need further instruction about baptisms, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment.
- Riches won’t help on the day of judgment,
but right living can save you from death. - You may think you can condemn such people, but you are just as bad, and you have no excuse! When you say they are wicked and should be punished, you are condemning yourself, for you who judge others do these very same things.
- Getting wisdom is the wisest thing you can do!
And whatever else you do, develop good judgment. - Fear of the Lord is the foundation of wisdom.
Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgment. - But in that coming day

their vindication will come from me.

but even though he is just and righteous,
he does not destroy us. - I appeal to you, dear brothers and sisters, by the authority of our Lord Jesus Christ, to live in harmony with each other. Let there be no divisions in the church. Rather, be of one mind, united in thought and purpose.

and the justice of your cause will shine like the noonday sun. - The Lord is more pleased when we do what is right and just
than when we offer him sacrifices. - But most of all, my brothers and sisters, never take an oath, by heaven or earth or anything else. Just say a simple yes or no, so that you will not sin and be condemned.

protect you from his anger on that day of destruction. - But I will be merciful only if you stop your evil thoughts and deeds and start treating each other with justice; only if you stop exploiting foreigners, orphans, and widows; only if you stop your murdering; and only if you stop harming yourselves by worshiping idols. Then I will let you stay in this land that I gave to your ancestors to keep forever.
