Life after death (2/4)

  • Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.
  • For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
  • And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.”
  • Then I saw that all toil and all skill in work come from a man's envy of his neighbor. This also is vanity and a striving after wind.
  • I baptize you with water for repentance, but he who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
  • For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.
  • For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.
  • Who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
  • And whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me.
  • Whoever pursues righteousness and kindness
will find life, righteousness, and honor.
  • For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel's will save it.
  • And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight.
  • The heavens declare the glory of God,
and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.
Day to day pours out speech,
and night to night reveals knowledge.
  • Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.
  • Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness.
  • And it shall be a tassel for you to look at and remember all the commandments of the Lord, to do them, not to follow after your own heart and your own eyes, which you are inclined to whore after.
  • To those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life.
  • Set me as a seal upon your heart,
as a seal upon your arm,
for love is strong as death,
jealousy is fierce as the grave.
Its flashes are flashes of fire,
the very flame of the Lord.
  • Therefore you shall keep his statutes and his commandments, which I command you today, that it may go well with you and with your children after you, and that you may prolong your days in the land that the Lord your God is giving you for all time.
  • In the day of prosperity be joyful, and in the day of adversity consider: God has made the one as well as the other, so that man may not find out anything that will be after him.
  • Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.
  • Have I any pleasure in the death of the wicked, declares the Lord God, and not rather that he should turn from his way and live?
  • And calling the crowd to him with his disciples, he said to them, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.”
  • Even though I walk
through the valley of the shadow of death,
    I will fear no evil,
    for you are with me;
    your rod and your staff,
    they comfort me.
  • Blessed and holy is the one who shares in the first resurrection! Over such the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him for a thousand years.

Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is my body.”
