- And eternal life is this:
to know you,
the only true God,
and the one you have sent,
Jesus Christ. - Never will I forget your commands,
for through them you have given me life. - For even the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.
- And I heard a loud voice proclaim from the throne:
“Behold, God’s dwelling is with mankind;
he will dwell with them.
They will be his people,
and he will be their God,
God-with-them.
He will wipe every tear from their eyes,
and there will no longer be death.
Neither will there be any mourning or crying or pain,
for the old order has passed away.” - He then called the people and his disciples to him and said to them, “Anyone who wishes to follow me must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.”
- But if you seek the Lord, your God, and you strive with all your heart and your soul, you will find him there.
- Only goodness and kindness will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
forever and ever. - In the same way, the Son of Man did not come to be served but rather to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.
- When they had finished their prayer, the place where they were gathered together shook, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and proclaimed the word of God fearlessly.
- You need to be steadfast if you want to do the will of God and receive what he has promised.
- A thief comes only
to steal and kill and destroy.
I have come
that they may have life,
and have it in abundance. - Jesus then said to her,
“I am the resurrection and the life.
Whoever believes in me,
even though he dies, will live,
and everyone who lives
and believes in me
will never die.
Do you believe this?” - The one who sows in his flesh will reap a harvest of corruption, but the one who sows in the Spirit will reap from the Spirit the reward of eternal life.
- Then he took a cup, and after offering thanks he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from this, all of you. For this is my blood of the covenant, which will be shed on behalf of many for the forgiveness of sins.”
- This is how we know what love is:
he laid down his life for us,
and we in turn must be prepared
to lay down our lives for our brethren. - You will show me the path to life;
you will fill me with joy in your presence
and everlasting delights at your right hand. - Your kindness is a greater joy than life itself;
thus my lips will speak your praise.
I will bless you all my life;
with uplifted hands I will call on your name. - After John had baptized all the people, and while Jesus was engaged in prayer after also having been baptized, heaven opened and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are my beloved Son; in you I am well pleased.”
- The Lord is my light and my salvation;
whom should I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life;
of whom should I be afraid? - Therefore, put on the armor of God, so that you will be able to hold fast on the evil day and to hold your ground with all your strength.
- Jesus answered them,
“I am the bread of life.
Whoever comes to me will never be hungry,
and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” - For God so loved the world
that he gave his only Son,
so that everyone who believes in him
may not perish
but may attain eternal life. - I write these things to you
who believe in the name of the Son of God
so that you may know
that you have eternal life. - They stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him, and after twisting some thorns into a crown, they placed it on his head and put a reed in his right hand. Then, bending the knee before him, they mocked him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!”
- However, now that you have been freed from sin and bound to the service of God, the benefit you receive is sanctification, and the end is eternal life.
And we are witnesses to these things, as is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey him.
