| I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance. | In the same way, I tell you, there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who have no need of repentance. |
| But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil. | However, the Lord is faithful. He will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one. |

| The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him. | The Lord is my portion, I say to myself; therefore, I will place my hope in him. |
| For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. | You need to be steadfast if you want to do the will of God and receive what he has promised. |

| I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. | I am confident that I will behold the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. |
| I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. | I know how to live with little, and I know how to live with plenty. In any and all circumstances, I have learned the secret of being well fed and of going hungry, of having plenty and of being in need. |

| But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. | And my God will fully supply all your needs out of the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. |

| But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. | But as for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and therefore you do not need anyone to teach you. This same anointing teaches you everything and is true and not false, so abide in him just as he taught you. |
| The fear of the Lord is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate. | The fear of the Lord implies hatred of evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil ways and perverse speech. |
| Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. | I do not say this because I have been in need, for I have learned to be content with whatever I have. |

| Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. | Make every effort to present yourself before God as one who is worthy of his approval, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, but who imparts the word of truth without any alteration. |
| Teach me thy way, O Lord; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name. | Teach me your ways, O Lord, so that I may walk in your truth; let me worship your name with an undivided heart. |
