- For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?
- The fear of man lays a snare,
but whoever trusts in the Lord is safe. - This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him
and saved him out of all his troubles. - I, I am he who comforts you;
who are you that you are afraid of man who dies,
of the son of man who is made like grass. - He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise.
- When a man is newly married, he shall not go out with the army or be liable for any other public duty. He shall be free at home one year to be happy with his wife whom he has taken.
- A dishonest man spreads strife,
and a whisperer separates close friends. - The Lord is on my side; I will not fear.
What can man do to me? - For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?
- A fool gives full vent to his spirit,
but a wise man quietly holds it back. - It is better to take refuge in the Lord
than to trust in man. - How can a young man keep his way pure?
By guarding it according to your word. - But from the beginning of creation, ‘God made them male and female.’ ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.
- There is a way that seems right to a man,
but its end is the way to death. - Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good!
Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him! - Before destruction a man's heart is haughty,
but humility comes before honor. - But he said, “What is impossible with man is possible with God.”
- To make an apt answer is a joy to a man,
and a word in season, how good it is! - Know then in your heart that, as a man disciplines his son, the Lord your God disciplines you.
- But he answered, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
- Every way of a man is right in his own eyes,
but the Lord weighs the heart. - He answered, “Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.”
- So, if they say to you, ‘Look, he is in the wilderness,’ do not go out. If they say, ‘Look, he is in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it. For as the lightning comes from the east and shines as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.
- Praise the Lord! Blessed is the man who fears the Lord,
who greatly delights in his commandments! - Of how much more value is a man than a sheep! So it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.
