- So God created man in his own image,
in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them. - But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”
- Every way of a man is right in his own eyes,
but the Lord weighs the heart. - Praise the Lord! Blessed is the man who fears the Lord,
who greatly delights in his commandments! - See, we are going up to Jerusalem. And the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn him to death and deliver him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified, and he will be raised on the third day.
- Of how much more value is a man than a sheep! So it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.
- The heart of man plans his way,
but the Lord establishes his steps. - Blessed is the one who finds wisdom,
and the one who gets understanding. - One Sabbath he was going through the grainfields, and as they made their way, his disciples began to pluck heads of grain. And the Pharisees were saying to him, “Look, why are they doing what is not lawful on the Sabbath?” And he said to them, “Have you never read what David did, when he was in need and was hungry, he and those who were with him: how he entered the house of God, in the time of Abiathar the high priest, and ate the bread of the Presence, which it is not lawful for any but the priests to eat, and also gave it to those who were with him?” And he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. So the Son of Man is lord even of the Sabbath.”
- It is an honor for a man to keep aloof from strife,
but every fool will be quarreling. - For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.
- Let it be known to you therefore, brothers, that through this man forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you, and by him everyone who believes is freed from everything from which you could not be freed by the law of Moses.
- It is well with the man who deals generously and lends;
who conducts his affairs with justice. - Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you;
bind them around your neck;
write them on the tablet of your heart.
So you will find favor and good success
in the sight of God and man. - A man without self-control
is like a city broken into and left without walls. - Anxiety in a man's heart weighs him down,
but a good word makes him glad. - The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.
- With the merciful you show yourself merciful;
with the blameless man you show yourself blameless. - For we all stumble in many ways. And if anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle his whole body.
- A man of many companions may come to ruin,
but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. - Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap.
- And the Lord God made for Adam and for his wife garments of skins and clothed them.
- A rich man's wealth is his strong city,
and like a high wall in his imagination. - The words of a wise man's mouth win him favor,
but the lips of a fool consume him. - A man's gift makes room for him
and brings him before the great.
