- Do not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. For on him God the Father has set his seal.
- The ransom of a man's life is his wealth,
but a poor man hears no threat. - How can a young man keep his way pure?
By guarding it according to your word. - And whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.
- Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good!
Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him! - Iron sharpens iron,
and one man sharpens another. - When a man is newly married, he shall not go out with the army or be liable for any other public duty. He shall be free at home one year to be happy with his wife whom he has taken.
- He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise.
- For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?
- Know then in your heart that, as a man disciplines his son, the Lord your God disciplines you.
- But from the beginning of creation, ‘God made them male and female.’ ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.
- But he answered, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
- A dishonest man spreads strife,
and a whisperer separates close friends. - For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?
- The steps of a man are established by the Lord,
when he delights in his way. - A fool gives full vent to his spirit,
but a wise man quietly holds it back. - It is better to take refuge in the Lord
than to trust in man. - So we can confidently say,
“The Lord is my helper;
I will not fear;
what can man do to me?” - There is a way that seems right to a man,
but its end is the way to death. - Before destruction a man's heart is haughty,
but humility comes before honor. - And he humbled you and let you hunger and fed you with manna, which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that he might make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.
- So, if they say to you, ‘Look, he is in the wilderness,’ do not go out. If they say, ‘Look, he is in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it. For as the lightning comes from the east and shines as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.
- But he said, “What is impossible with man is possible with God.”
- He answered, “Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.”
- To make an apt answer is a joy to a man,
and a word in season, how good it is!
