Man (2/4)

When a man hath taken a new wife, he shall not go out to war, neither shall he be charged with any business: but he shall be free at home one year, and shall cheer up his wife which he hath taken. If a man has recently been married, he is not to go off to battle nor have any other duty laid on him. He will be free to stay at home for one year so that he can bring happiness to the wife whom he has married.
Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend. As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the wits of his neighbor.
This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles. In my anguish I cried out; the Lord heard my plea, and I was saved from all my troubles.
For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his very life? Or what can he give in exchange for his life?
For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.And just as no human being comprehends any person’s innermost being except the person’s own spirit within him, so also no one comprehends what pertains to God except the Spirit of God.
The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe. The fear of others will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is secure.
But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. But from the very beginning of creation, ‘God made them male and female.’ ‘That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two become one flesh.’ And so they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, let no one separate.
A froward man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends.A perverse man sows strife, and a tale-bearer destroys close friendships.
A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards.A fool gives free rein to his anger, but a wise man bides his time and calms it.
For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his very life?
O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.
The Lord is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?With the Lord to protect me I am not afraid. What can mortals do to me?
Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word. How can a young man lead a spotless life? By living according to your word.
A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.A good man produces good from the store of goodness in his heart, whereas an evil man produces evil from the store of evil within him. For the mouth speaks from the abundance of the heart.
Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.Do not be deceived; God cannot be mocked. A person will reap only what he sows.
I, even I, am he that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou shouldest be afraid of a man that shall die, and of the son of man which shall be made as grass.I, I alone, am the one who comforts you. Why then do you fear mortal men who must die, human beings who must perish like grass?
Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honour is humility.A man is haughty until disaster overtakes him, but humility comes before honors.
It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to place your trust in mortals.
There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. There is a way that seems right to a man, but the end of it leads to death.
Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not. For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.So if anyone says to you, ‘Behold, he is in the wilderness,’ do not go out there. If they say, ‘Behold, he is in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it. For just as lightning comes from the east and is visible even in the west, so will the coming of the Son of Man be.
The ransom of a man's life are his riches: but the poor heareth not rebuke.A wealthy man pays a ransom to save his life; a poor man never has to worry about such threats.
And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. He replied, “Have you not read that from the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female’ and said: ‘That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two become one flesh’? And so they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, let no one separate.”
Thou shalt also consider in thine heart, that, as a man chasteneth his son, so the Lord thy God chasteneth thee. Thus you could understand that the Lord, your God, was disciplining you, just like a father disciplines his son.
But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.Jesus answered, “As it is written: ‘Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of God.’ ”
A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it!A man is joyful when he utters apt answers, and even more satisfying is a word in season.

Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins: And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses. You must understand, brethren, that it is through him that forgiveness of sins is being proclaimed to you. All those who believe are justified from all the things from which they could not be justified by the Law of Moses.
