Bible Verses about 'Money'
- He who loves silver will not be satisfied with silver;
Nor he who loves abundance, with increase.
This also is vanity. - For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
- Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
- Wealth gained by dishonesty will be diminished,
But he who gathers by labor will increase. - But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition.
- The blessing of the Lord makes one rich,
And He adds no sorrow with it. - Do not overwork to be rich;
Because of your own understanding, cease! - Honor the Lord with your possessions,
And with the firstfruits of all your increase. - Better is a little with the fear of the Lord,
Than great treasure with trouble. - For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
- And He said to them, “Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.”
- Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy.
- Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor.
- How much better to get wisdom than gold!
And to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver. - But who am I, and who are my people,
That we should be able to offer so willingly as this?
For all things come from You,
And of Your own we have given You. - No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.
- For the Lord your God will bless you just as He promised you; you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow; you shall reign over many nations, but they shall not reign over you.
- His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’
- For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it?
- Remove falsehood and lies far from me;
Give me neither poverty nor riches—
Feed me with the food allotted to me. - What is desired in a man is kindness,
And a poor man is better than a liar. - A little that a righteous man has
Is better than the riches of many wicked.
For the arms of the wicked shall be broken,
But the Lord upholds the righteous. - A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches,
Loving favor rather than silver and gold. - Will you set your eyes on that which is not?
For riches certainly make themselves wings;
They fly away like an eagle toward heaven. - For because of this you also pay taxes, for they are God’s ministers attending continually to this very thing.
- As for every man to whom God has given riches and wealth, and given him power to eat of it, to receive his heritage and rejoice in his labor—this is the gift of God.
- The rich man’s wealth is his strong city,
And like a high wall in his own esteem. - Riches do not profit in the day of wrath,
But righteousness delivers from death. - But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?
- I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.
- Treasures of wickedness profit nothing,
But righteousness delivers from death. - I have rejoiced in the way of Your testimonies,
As much as in all riches. - Both riches and honor come from You,
And You reign over all.
In Your hand is power and might;
In Your hand it is to make great
And to give strength to all. - Jesus said to him, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.”
- But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself? While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own control? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.”
- Houses and riches are an inheritance from fathers,
But a prudent wife is from the Lord. - The Lord makes poor and makes rich;
He brings low and lifts up. - As sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.
- Incline my heart to Your testimonies,
And not to covetousness. - Better is a little with righteousness,
Than vast revenues without justice. - And the Lord restored Job’s losses when he prayed for his friends. Indeed the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.
- A good man deals graciously and lends;
He will guide his affairs with discretion. - When goods increase,
They increase who eat them;
So what profit have the owners
Except to see them with their eyes? - The rich rules over the poor,
And the borrower is servant to the lender. - The wicked borrows and does not repay,
But the righteous shows mercy and gives. - Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.
- Let the lowly brother glory in his exaltation, but the rich in his humiliation, because as a flower of the field he will pass away.
- The ransom of a man’s life is his riches,
But the poor does not hear rebuke. - You shall not make anything to be with Me—gods of silver or gods of gold you shall not make for yourselves.
