Bible Verses about 'Money'
- He who loves money will not be satisfied with money, nor he who loves wealth with his income; this also is vanity.
- Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
- For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.
- Wealth gained hastily will dwindle,
but whoever gathers little by little will increase it. - No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.
- But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.
- The blessing of the Lord makes rich,
and he adds no sorrow with it. - Do not toil to acquire wealth;
be discerning enough to desist. - Honor the Lord with your wealth
and with the firstfruits of all your produce. - Better is a little with the fear of the Lord
than great treasure and trouble with it. - For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
- And he said to them, “Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”
- As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy.
- Pay to all what is owed to them: taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed.
- How much better to get wisdom than gold!
To get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver. - But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able thus to offer willingly? For all things come from you, and of your own have we given you.
- For the Lord your God will bless you, as he promised you, and you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow, and you shall rule over many nations, but they shall not rule over you.
- His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’
- For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it?
- Remove far from me falsehood and lying;
give me neither poverty nor riches;
feed me with the food that is needful for me. - What is desired in a man is steadfast love,
and a poor man is better than a liar. - Better is the little that the righteous has
than the abundance of many wicked.
For the arms of the wicked shall be broken,
but the Lord upholds the righteous. - A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches,
and favor is better than silver or gold. - When your eyes light on it, it is gone,
for suddenly it sprouts wings,
flying like an eagle toward heaven. - For because of this you also pay taxes, for the authorities are ministers of God, attending to this very thing.
- Everyone also to whom God has given wealth and possessions and power to enjoy them, and to accept his lot and rejoice in his toil—this is the gift of God.
- A rich man's wealth is his strong city,
and like a high wall in his imagination. - Riches do not profit in the day of wrath,
but righteousness delivers from death. - But if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him?
- I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need.
- Treasures gained by wickedness do not profit,
but righteousness delivers from death. - In the way of your testimonies I delight
as much as in all riches. - Both riches and honor come from you, and you rule over all. In your hand are power and might, and in your hand it is to make great and to give strength to all.
- Jesus said to him, “If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”
- But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back for yourself part of the proceeds of the land? While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, was it not at your disposal? Why is it that you have contrived this deed in your heart? You have not lied to man but to God.”
- House and wealth are inherited from fathers,
but a prudent wife is from the Lord. - The Lord makes poor and makes rich;
he brings low and he exalts. - As sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, yet possessing everything.
- Incline my heart to your testimonies,
and not to selfish gain! - Better is a little with righteousness
than great revenues with injustice. - And the Lord restored the fortunes of Job, when he had prayed for his friends. And the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.
- It is well with the man who deals generously and lends;
who conducts his affairs with justice. - When goods increase, they increase who eat them, and what advantage has their owner but to see them with his eyes?
- The rich rules over the poor,
and the borrower is the slave of the lender. - The wicked borrows but does not pay back,
but the righteous is generous and gives. - As for what was sown among thorns, this is the one who hears the word, but the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and it proves unfruitful.
- Let the lowly brother boast in his exaltation, and the rich in his humiliation, because like a flower of the grass he will pass away.
- The ransom of a man's life is his wealth,
but a poor man hears no threat. - You shall not make gods of silver to be with me, nor shall you make for yourselves gods of gold.
