Search for the Lord and for his strength; continually seek him. | Seek the Lord and His strength; Seek His face evermore! |
Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. | And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. |
Search for the Lord and for his strength; continually seek him. | Seek the Lord and His strength; Seek His face evermore! |
And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul? | For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? |
The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life. | The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. |
So let’s stop condemning each other. Decide instead to live in such a way that you will not cause another believer to stumble and fall. | Therefore let us not judge one another anymore, but rather resolve this, not to put a stumbling block or a cause to fall in our brother’s way. |
I tell you the truth, slaves are not greater than their master. Nor is the messenger more important than the one who sends the message. | Most assuredly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master; nor is he who is sent greater than he who sent him. |
There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? | In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. |
Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other. | Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another. |
I have rejoiced in your laws as much as in riches. | I have rejoiced in the way of Your testimonies, As much as in all riches. |
So if your eye—even your good eye—causes you to lust, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. | If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell. |
Everyone enjoys a fitting reply; it is wonderful to say the right thing at the right time! | A man has joy by the answer of his mouth, And a word spoken in due season, how good it is! |
Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.” | Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” |
Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. | Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. |
How much better to get wisdom than gold, and good judgment than silver! | How much better to get wisdom than gold! And to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver. |
The master was full of praise. ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together!’ | His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’ |
And now I make one more appeal, my dear brothers and sisters. Watch out for people who cause divisions and upset people’s faith by teaching things contrary to what you have been taught. Stay away from them. | Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them. |
Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back. | Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you. |
You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever. | You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore. |
Then Jesus told them, “I tell you the truth, if you have faith and don’t doubt, you can do things like this and much more. You can even say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen.” | So Jesus answered and said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ it will be done.” |
The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure. | No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it. |
I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me, for my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand. The Father and I are one. | And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand. I and My Father are one. |
If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. | Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. |
When you pray, don’t babble on and on as the Gentiles do. They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again. | And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words. |
