Chinese (traditional)- I am not asking you
to take them out of the world,
but I do ask you
to protect them from the evil one. - He gives strength to the weary
and new vigor to those who are powerless. - And the world with all its enticements
is passing away,
but whoever does the will of God
abides forever. - He gave himself for us in order to deliver us from all iniquity and to purify for himself a people as his own who are eager to do good.
- The love of the Lord is never exhausted,
nor do his deeds of mercy ever come to an end.
They are renewed every morning;
his faithfulness never ceases. - He is himself the sacrifice for our sins—
and not only for our sins
but also for the sins of the whole world. - God’s love was revealed to us in this way:
God sent his only-begotten Son into the world
so that we might have life through him. - Dear children,
you are from God
and you have conquered them,
for the one who is in you is greater
than the one who is in the world. - Before the mountains were brought forth
or the earth and the world came into existence,
from everlasting to everlasting you are God. - For we brought nothing into this world, and we can take nothing out. If we have food and clothing, let us be content with these.
- What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his very life? Or what can he give in exchange for his life?
- For God so loved the world
that he gave his only Son,
so that everyone who believes in him
may not perish
but may attain eternal life. - And the good news of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the entire world as a testimony offered to all the nations. And then the end will come.
- Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. In his great mercy he has given us a new birth to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
- Peace I leave with you,
my peace I give to you.
Not as the world gives
do I give it to you.
Do not let your hearts be troubled;
be not afraid. - Beloved,
do not trust every spirit,
but test the spirits
to see whether they are from God.
For many false prophets
have gone out into the world. - Do not be conformed to the world, but be transformed by the renewal of your minds, so that you will be able to discern the will of God and to know what is good and acceptable and perfect.
- Jesus addressed them once again, saying,
“I am the light of the world.
The one who follows me
will never walk in darkness.
Rather, he will have the light of life.” - But he answered me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness.” Hence, I will boast most gladly of my weaknesses, in order that the power of Christ may dwell within me.
- Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and undefiled is this: to come to the aid of orphans and widows in their hardships and to keep oneself untarnished by the world.
- All this took place in order to fulfill what the Lord had announced through the prophet:
“Behold, the virgin shall conceive and give birth to a son,
and they shall name him Emmanuel,”
a name that means “God is with us.” - I am the living bread that came down from heaven.
Whoever eats this bread will live forever;
and the bread that I will give
is my flesh, for the life of the world. - Therefore, whenever you give alms, do not trumpet your generosity, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets in order to win the praise of others. Amen, I say to you, they have already received their reward.
- In other words, God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, and not holding people’s transgressions against them, and he committed to us the message of reconciliation.
- See what love
the Father has bestowed on us,
enabling us to be called the children of God,
and that is what we are.
If the world does not recognize us,
that is because it did not know him.
God chose those in the world who were lowly and despised, those who count for nothing, to reduce to nothing those who were regarded as worthy, so that no one could boast in the presence of God.But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for I bring you good news of great joy for all the people.” Let us remain firm in the confession of our hope without wavering, for the one who made the promise is trustworthy.Next verse! With image
