| When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they will not overflow you. | Do not be deceived: “Bad company corrupts good morals.” | Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners. |

| So then, let’s not sleep as others do, but let’s be alert and sober. | Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. |
| Not lagging behind in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord. | Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord. |
| Little children, let’s not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth. | My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. |
| The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not willing for any to perish, but for all to come to repentance. | The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. |
| “If you do not listen, and if you do not take it to heart to give honor to My name,” says the Lord of armies, “then I will send the curse upon you and I will curse your blessings; and indeed, I have cursed them already, because you are not taking it to heart.” | If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith the Lord of hosts, I will even send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings: yea, I have cursed them already, because ye do not lay it to heart. |

| But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not just hearers who deceive themselves. | But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. |

| Or can a person walk on hot coals And his feet not be scorched? | Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned? |
