- For you bless the righteous, O Lord;
you cover them with favor as with a shield. - In you, O Lord, I seek refuge;

for your name's sake. - Have mercy on me, O God,
according to your steadfast love;
according to your abundant mercy
blot out my transgressions.
Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity,
and cleanse me from my sin. - O Lord, all my longing is known to you;
my sighing is not hidden from you. - For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving,
abounding in steadfast love to all who call on you. - The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me;
your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever.
Do not forsake the work of your hands. - Do not, O Lord, withhold
your mercy from me;
let your steadfast love and your faithfulness
keep me safe forever. - O Lord, you have searched me and known me.
You know when I sit down and when I rise up;
you discern my thoughts from far away. - In the path of your judgments,
O Lord, we wait for you;
your name and your renown
are the soul's desire. - To you, O God of my ancestors,
I give thanks and praise,
for you have given me wisdom and power,
and have now revealed to me what we asked of you,
for you have revealed to us what the king ordered. - And those who know your name put their trust in you,
for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you. - Hear my prayer, O Lord,
and give ear to my cry;
do not hold your peace at my tears.
For I am your passing guest,
an alien, like all my forebears. - O God, you are my God, I seek you,
my soul thirsts for you;
my flesh faints for you,
as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
