- In the path of your judgments,
O Lord, we wait for you;
your name and your renown
are the soul's desire. - To you, O God of my ancestors,
I give thanks and praise,
for you have given me wisdom and power,
and have now revealed to me what we asked of you,
for you have revealed to us what the king ordered. - Therefore you are great, O Lord God; for there is no one like you, and there is no God besides you, according to all that we have heard with our ears.
- O come, let us worship and bow down,
let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker! - O taste and see that the Lord is good;
happy are those who take refuge in him. - Why are you cast down, O my soul,
and why are you disquieted within me?
Hope in God; for I shall again praise him,
my help and my God. - O give thanks to the Lord, call on his name,
make known his deeds among the peoples. - I love you, O Lord, my strength.
The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer,
my God, my rock in whom I take refuge,
my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. - O give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
for his steadfast love endures forever. - Therefore you have no excuse, whoever you are, when you judge others; for in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, are doing the very same things.
- But you, O Bethlehem of Ephrathah,
who are one of the little clans of Judah,
from you shall come forth for me
one who is to rule in Israel,
whose origin is from of old,
from ancient days. - O the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!
- Deliverance belongs to the Lord;
may your blessing be on your people! Selah - I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart;
I will tell of all your wonderful deeds. - For God alone my soul waits in silence,
for my hope is from him. - O how abundant is your goodness
that you have laid up for those who fear you,
and accomplished for those who take refuge in you,
in the sight of everyone! - Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us,
and prosper for us the work of our hands—
O prosper the work of our hands! - But as for you, man of God, shun all this; pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, gentleness.
- I will extol you, my God and King,
and bless your name forever and ever. - It is you who light my lamp;
the Lord, my God, lights up my darkness. - I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord;
I have no good apart from you.” - Return, faithless Israel,
says the Lord.
I will not look on you in anger,
for I am merciful,
says the Lord;
I will not be angry forever. - Ah Lord God! It is you who made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm! Nothing is too hard for you.
- So now, O Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you? Only to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the commandments of the Lord your God and his decrees that I am commanding you today, for your own well-being.
- Hear, my child, and accept my words,
that the years of your life may be many.
