- Protect me, O God, for in you I take refuge.
- May God continue to bless us;
let all the ends of the earth revere him. - Now he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath. And just then there appeared a woman with a spirit that had crippled her for eighteen years. She was bent over and was quite unable to stand up straight. When Jesus saw her, he called her over and said, “Woman, you are set free from your ailment.” When he laid his hands on her, immediately she stood up straight and began praising God. But the leader of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus had cured on the sabbath, kept saying to the crowd, “There are six days on which work ought to be done; come on those days and be cured, and not on the sabbath day.” But the Lord answered him and said, “You hypocrites! Does not each of you on the sabbath untie his ox or his donkey from the manger, and lead it away to give it water? And ought not this woman, a daughter of Abraham whom Satan bound for eighteen long years, be set free from this bondage on the sabbath day?” When he said this, all his opponents were put to shame; and the entire crowd was rejoicing at all the wonderful things that he was doing.
- Who builds his upper chambers in the heavens,
and founds his vault upon the earth;
who calls for the waters of the sea,
and pours them out upon the surface of the earth—
the Lord is his name. - You are indeed my rock and my fortress;
for your name's sake lead me and guide me. - For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
and his ears are open to their prayer.
But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil. - But as for me, I will look to the Lord,
I will wait for the God of my salvation;
my God will hear me. - With the Lord on my side I do not fear.
What can mortals do to me? - For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, and you have come to fullness in him, who is the head of every ruler and authority.
- My times are in your hand;
deliver me from the hand of my enemies and persecutors. - And said to them, “Whoever welcomes this child in my name welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me; for the least among all of you is the greatest.”
- The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures;
he leads me beside still waters. - For to me, living is Christ and dying is gain.
- Truly the eye of the Lord is on those who fear him,
on those who hope in his steadfast love. - Though an army encamp against me,
my heart shall not fear;
though war rise up against me,
yet I will be confident. - Have mercy on me, O God,
according to your steadfast love;
according to your abundant mercy
blot out my transgressions.
Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity,
and cleanse me from my sin. - And it is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
- Yet I have been the Lord your God
ever since the land of Egypt;
you know no God but me,
and besides me there is no savior. - I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
- I am the vine, you are the branches. Those who abide in me and I in them bear much fruit, because apart from me you can do nothing.
- Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”
- O Lord, you have searched me and known me.
You know when I sit down and when I rise up;
you discern my thoughts from far away. - Teach me your way, O Lord,
that I may walk in your truth;
give me an undivided heart to revere your name. - Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
and those who love it will eat its fruits. - But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
