One who walks with integrity, practices righteousness, And speaks truth in his heart. He does not slander with his tongue, Nor do evil to his neighbor, Nor bring shame on his friend. | The one who leads a blameless life and does what is right, who speaks the truth from the heart and does not slander anyone, who does not harm a friend and does not scorn a neighbor. |
One who guards his mouth protects his life; One who opens wide his lips comes to ruin. | He who guards his mouth makes his life secure, but one who talks excessively ensures his own downfall. |
The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable, But the mouth of the wicked, what is perverted. | The lips of the righteous utter words of kindness, but the mouth of the wicked knows only how to pervert. |
But speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, that is, Christ. | Rather, professing truth and love, we will in all things grow into him who is the head, Christ. |
The heavens tell of the glory of God; And their expanse declares the work of His hands. Day to day pours forth speech, And night to night reveals knowledge. | The heavens proclaim the glory of God; the firmament shows forth the work of his hands.
