Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking deceit.Then keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies!

Even a fool who keeps silent is considered wise; when he closes his lips, he is deemed intelligent.Even fools are thought wise when they keep silent; with their mouths shut, they seem intelligent.
When words are many, transgression is not lacking, but whoever restrains his lips is prudent.Too much talk leads to sin. Be sensible and keep your mouth shut.
Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger.Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry.
Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all who are destitute.Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; ensure justice for those being crushed.
To make an apt answer is a joy to a man, and a word in season, how good it is!Everyone enjoys a fitting reply; it is wonderful to say the right thing at the right time!
A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.A gentle answer deflects anger, but harsh words make tempers flare.
Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.

If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother.If another believer sins against you, go privately and point out the offense. If the other person listens and confesses it, you have won that person back.
Therefore whatever you have said in the dark shall be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in private rooms shall be proclaimed on the housetops.Whatever you have said in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered behind closed doors will be shouted from the housetops for all to hear!

Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.Live wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone.
