Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from telling lies. Then keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies!

The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit. The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences.
A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart.
Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.
Those who guard their lips preserve their lives, but those who speak rashly will come to ruin. Those who control their tongue will have a long life; opening your mouth can ruin everything.
Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.Don’t repay evil for evil. Don’t retaliate with insults when people insult you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God has called you to do, and he will grant you his blessing.

We all stumble in many ways. Anyone who is never at fault in what they say is perfect, able to keep their whole body in check.Indeed, we all make many mistakes. For if we could control our tongues, we would be perfect and could also control ourselves in every other way.
And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. When you pray, don’t babble on and on as the Gentiles do. They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again.
But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken. And I tell you this, you must give an account on judgment day for every idle word you speak.

A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.A gentle answer deflects anger, but harsh words make tempers flare.
Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.
Words from the mouth of the wise are gracious, but fools are consumed by their own lips.Wise words bring approval, but fools are destroyed by their own words.

If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over.If another believer sins against you, go privately and point out the offense. If the other person listens and confesses it, you have won that person back.
What you have said in the dark will be heard in the daylight, and what you have whispered in the ear in the inner rooms will be proclaimed from the roofs.Whatever you have said in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered behind closed doors will be shouted from the housetops for all to hear!
