- And he has given us this command: Those who love God must also love their fellow believers.
- Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment.
- Grandchildren are the crowning glory of the aged;
parents are the pride of their children. - That’s why those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God.
- Some nations boast of their chariots and horses,
but we boast in the name of the Lord our God. - The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right;

opening your mouth can ruin everything. - But the Lord turns his face against those who do evil;
he will erase their memory from the earth. - Even so, I have noticed one thing, at least, that is good. It is good for people to eat, drink, and enjoy their work under the sun during the short life God has given them, and to accept their lot in life.
- Even fools are thought wise when they keep silent;
with their mouths shut, they seem intelligent. - The rich think of their wealth as a strong defense;
they imagine it to be a high wall of safety. - And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.
- Look, I am coming soon, bringing my reward with me to repay all people according to their deeds.
- Can anyone object to their being baptized, now that they have received the Holy Spirit just as we did?
- They did not conquer the land with their swords;
it was not their own strong arm that gave them victory.
It was your right hand and strong arm
and the blinding light from your face that helped them,
for you loved them. - People who conceal their sins will not prosper,
but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy. - Fathers can give their sons an inheritance of houses and wealth,
but only the Lord can give an understanding wife. - Slaves must always obey their masters and do their best to please them. They must not talk back or steal, but must show themselves to be entirely trustworthy and good. Then they will make the teaching about God our Savior attractive in every way.
- They will never again be hungry or thirsty;
they will never be scorched by the heat of the sun.
For the Lamb on the throne
will be their Shepherd.
He will lead them to springs of life-giving water.
And God will wipe every tear from their eyes. - The human heart is the most deceitful of all things,
and desperately wicked.
Who really knows how bad it is?
But I, the Lord, search all hearts
and examine secret motives.
I give all people their due rewards,
according to what their actions deserve. - But even if you suffer for doing what is right, God will reward you for it. So don’t worry or be afraid of their threats.
- For the Son of Man will come with his angels in the glory of his Father and will judge all people according to their deeds.
- They told you that in the last times there would be scoffers whose purpose in life is to satisfy their ungodly desires. These people are the ones who are creating divisions among you. They follow their natural instincts because they do not have God’s Spirit in them.
- Others were given in exchange for you.
I traded their lives for yours
because you are precious to me.
You are honored, and I love you. - I tell you the truth, slaves are not greater than their master. Nor is the messenger more important than the one who sends the message.
