Chinese (traditional)- Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up.
- The lips of fools bring them strife,
and their mouths invite a beating. - What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?
- Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me.
- Fools show their annoyance at once,
but the prudent overlook an insult. - Fools give full vent to their rage,
but the wise bring calm in the end. - Blessed are those who keep his statutes
and seek him with all their heart. - Moreover, when God gives someone wealth and possessions, and the ability to enjoy them, to accept their lot and be happy in their toil—this is a gift of God.
- It was not by their sword that they won the land,
nor did their arm bring them victory;
it was your right hand, your arm,
and the light of your face, for you loved them. - Sin is not ended by multiplying words,
but the prudent hold their tongues. - A person may think their own ways are right,
but the Lord weighs the heart. - Two are better than one,
because they have a good return for their labor. - Let the wicked forsake their ways
and the unrighteous their thoughts.
Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them,
and to our God, for he will freely pardon. - If anyone turns a deaf ear to my instruction,
even their prayers are detestable. - The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
and his ears are attentive to their cry. - When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show others they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.
- Believers in humble circumstances ought to take pride in their high position. But the rich should take pride in their humiliation—since they will pass away like a wild flower.
- Fools find no pleasure in understanding
but delight in airing their own opinions. - So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off.
- But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.
- Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.
- By the word of the Lord the heavens were made,
their starry host by the breath of his mouth. - Children’s children are a crown to the aged,
and parents are the pride of their children. - For, “Whoever would love life
and see good days
must keep their tongue from evil
and their lips from deceitful speech.
They must turn from evil and do good;
they must seek peace and pursue it.” - The wealth of the rich is their fortified city;
they imagine it a wall too high to scale.
But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil,
to blot out their name from the earth.How great you are, Sovereign Lord! There is no one like you, and there is no God but you, as we have heard with our own ears. Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.Next verse!With image
