- When Jesus heard this, he said, “Do not be afraid. Just have faith, and she will be saved.”
- The one who calls you is faithful, and he will accomplish this.
- In my anguish I cried out;
the Lord heard my plea,
and I was saved from all my troubles. - Jesus answered them, “Amen, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only will you do what has been done to this fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ it will be accomplished.”
- Then he took a cup, and after offering thanks he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from this, all of you. For this is my blood of the covenant, which will be shed on behalf of many for the forgiveness of sins.”
- Out of the same mouth flow blessings and curses. This should not be so, my brethren.
- Remember this, my beloved brethren: everyone should be quick to listen but slow to speak and slow to anger.
- For this reason
a man shall leave his father and mother
and be joined to his wife,
and the two shall become one flesh. - This is how we know what love is:
he laid down his life for us,
and we in turn must be prepared
to lay down our lives for our brethren. - After he said this, he was lifted up as they looked on, and a cloud took him from their sight.
- When Jesus heard this, he said, “It is not the healthy who need a physician, but rather those who are sick.”
- This rather is the type of fast that I wish:
to loosen the fetters of injustice,
to undo the thongs of the yoke,
to set free those who are oppressed
and to break every yoke. - This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God:
every spirit that acknowledges
that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh
is from God,
and every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus
is not from God.
This is the spirit of the Antichrist,
about whose coming you have been told,
and that it is already in the world. - This, in fact, is what you have been called to do, because Christ himself suffered for you and left an example for you to follow in his footsteps.
- All this has been done by God, who has reconciled us to himself through Christ and entrusted us with the ministry of reconciliation.
- And said to them, “Whoever receives this child in my name receives me; and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me. For the one who is least among all of you is the one who is the greatest.”
- Do not assert that the past was better than the present,
for such a statement is not a sign of wisdom. - While he was still speaking, suddenly a bright cloud cast a shadow over them. Then a voice from the cloud said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased. Listen to him.”
- Let your attitude be identical to that of Christ Jesus.
- Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.
- On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. When Paul had laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied.
- Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and undefiled is this: to come to the aid of orphans and widows in their hardships and to keep oneself untarnished by the world.
- Jesus then said to her,
“I am the resurrection and the life.
Whoever believes in me,
even though he dies, will live,
and everyone who lives
and believes in me
will never die.
Do you believe this?” - And thus we can have confidence in him
that if we ask anything
that is in accordance with his will,
he hears us. - However, if you truly amend your ways and your deeds, if you are upright in your dealings with your neighbor; if you do not oppress the alien, the orphan, and the widow; if you do not shed innocent blood in this place; and if you do not follow other gods and thereby cause your own destruction, then I will allow you to live in this place, in the land that I gave as a permanent gift to your fathers long ago.
